Applecart

Welcome to the home of the
Applecart Artist Network

We are a collective of artists from all walks of life, dealing with all forms of art - from painting and sculpture to music and performance.

Although the network is run from Birmingham (UK), only about two-thirds of the artists are based in the Midlands. The network includes people from all over the country, from Scotland to Devon. There is even a member who lives in New York!

If you are an artist looking for ideas or ways of getting your work out into the public domain, or perhaps even looking for someone with particular skills to collaborate with, then please join the network.

If you are looking to purchase original work or need a certain commission, then please do not hesitate to contact us - there are over 150 members in the group producing original works of art! Some of the artists' work can be seen on the gallery - please follow the link below for the Applesource page.

About this site...

On this site you will find information on how to join the network. I will be updating the site on a regular basis, with news of events and exhibitions - by the group and also the individual members.

The column to the right features events that are currently taking place, along with other items that may interest you. I shall be placing reviews of events I have attended as well as advertising ones that I think look interesting. If you would like to review an event yourself, or advertise something you are involved with, then please don't hesitate to send details to events@applecart.org and I shall list them as soon as possible.

Further down this page you will find a link to The AppleSource - an online gallery of work by Applecart members, and further links to external websites... (we are not responsible for the content of third party websites).
Many thanks - hope you enjoy the site.
- Tim (Applecart Director)

AppleSource...

The work is not for sale via this site, but if you are interested in purchasing any work shown or commissioning the artists, then please visit their site directly or allow us to forward a message on to them.

Joining Applecart...

We are always on the lookout for fresh creative talent - from any area of the arts - and any level of experience. Students, masters, amateurs, part-time, full-time - in fact any kind of artists are welcome to join. We are simply looking for raw talent and dedication.

The network contains an eclectic mix of artists, from painters and sculptors to musicians and poets, and the variety is constantly growing. If you would like to be part of this group, please email a few examples of work, a little about yourself and a brief creative history, to tim@applecart.org.

Home of Metal
www.homeofmetal.com

Home of Metal is a new project aimed at creating the first digital archive of metal music, memorabilia and fans stories, to tell the story of this unique moment of Midlands' musical heritage.

It first launched at Wolverhampton Art Gallery on Saturday 25 October, then went on to Walsall. The final stage will be in the Waterhall at Birmingham Museum and Art GAllery.

The project coincides with the 40th anniversary of when the term 'heavy metal' was coined by music journalist Lester Bangs when describing Black Sabbath.
